What it is

Home Climate Journal is an independent publication about heating, cooling, water heating and indoor air in homes. It explains equipment, running costs and the rules behind them from primary sources.

The site is organized in 7 sections: Heating, Cooling, Air quality, Water heating, Energy bills, Rebates & costs, Rules & recalls. It publishes long-form guides that answer the questions readers bring, shorter pieces on what has just happened, and a glossary of the terms it uses.

Who publishes it

Home Climate Journal is published by Paul Halden. It is not affiliated with any company, product or organization it covers, and nothing on the site is paid placement.

How the material is made

Every piece names its sources and links to them, so it can be checked. News is retold in our own words from the original, never reprinted. Figures from a source are given as the source states them. Where a piece calculates something from them — a unit conversion, a percentage change, a cost per million Btu — the inputs and the method are shown with the result. Nothing is invented to fill a gap: no quotations that were not said, no forecasts of our own, no illustrative numbers. How the site is paid for

• Advertising. The site carries none. If it ever does, advertising will be labeled as such, and advertisers will not choose, see or influence editorial material.

Corrections

When something we published turns out to be wrong, it is corrected on the page. To report an error, write to editor@homeclimatejournals.info with the address of the page and what is wrong; a link to a source that shows it helps.
